You never forget your first love...

Impressive: it was back in 2009 when our first 2001 Fiji was bottled.


Seems like a lifetime. So many differences, changes, memories and things maturing.
Handsome, quick to pander, seductive. This rum knocks with courtesy and kindness and reminds us that quality is always a subjective concept.

You can love or hate Fiji.

As for every passion and love of our life, the risk is to become embroiled and obsessed. Us, we choose to lose ourselves in the glass, each rotation of which produces bold fragrances and scents. We are now adrift, at sea, confused.

On tasting, we are comforted. It is in fact as we imagined it.

On nosing: provoking through classic timbres we have become adept at recognising. Waxy with peaks of lacquer. The medicinal and dried fruits notes may evoke the title of “peatiest” rum.

The palate is titillated as if by rivulets of water caressed by oars. A fiery sensation veering to vanilla, liquorice, mint and spices, such as pink peppercorn and nutmeg.
