Geometer n. [Latin geomĕtres or geomĕtra, Greek γεωμέτρης]
A person who studies, knows and applies the principles and rules of geometry: Euclid the Geometrician (Dante).
The image is always that of a man bent over his desk, where most of his life has been concentrated. The soundtrack: Pablo, by singer-songwriter De Gregori. On the wall, among the photos of his nearest and dearest and his soccer team’s badge, a print of The Fourth State: the advancing working class as an admonition to display its origin and to measure together the tempo of new awareness and responsibility. Us? We have tried to emulate the patience and punctiliousness of that Geometrician whilst aging and forming this Malt. In a Koval barrel - yes, from the legendary Chicago distillery, able to give rise to a very different evolution compared to any old bourbon cask. Hence we find it more clearly outlined, displaying the features of iron - no, metal - and muscle. A whisky with a penchant for the future, straight-talking, no compromise, caper-like saline, steeped in mineral, metallic and slightly balsamic aromas. A wealth of forces comparable only to the oft nowadays forgotten ones of work: in the factory, on the farms. And we cannot not dedicate this creation to those who with devoted sacrifice plan and execute projects, or make things, or know how to wait patiently for the outcome of sowing and growing.
To a great man’s seventieth, then!
“Il collega spagnolo non sente e non vede, ma parla del suo gallo da
battaglia e la latteria diventa terra…”
Pablo, F. De Gregori, 1975
