The flames of the First World War raging, and many seek refuge in neutral Switzerland. It is in this climate of forced tranquility that Dada comes about and becomes a true artistic current. A nonsensical movement by definition meaning everything and nothing, and which therefore becomes pure freedom of expression. It is art, and at the same time the negation of art. It is rebellion to coercion, both moral and artistic, impeding any recognition of reason. At the present time, when conflicts and wars seem to have come to the fore again and oblige us to consensus and applause, we allow ourselves to imagine we are in times of Dada (and perhaps we are), and we dedicate this malt to those who protest at full voice and are not heeded or even heard. To all those who, with courage, as great and perhaps unwitting Dadaists are trying to go against the current.
At first, this Glen Garioch does not seem to want to give its best to the nose, as though to preserve itself for those who have the patience and the need to wait: because waiting can be a need. But after the initial prudishness, here come essences of wood (the bars of ancient establishments, and the ceilings impregnated by tobacco smoke) which open up delicately a path to menthol and the metallic, its supporting structure.
The mouth gratifies us with notes of cumin, cinnamon and cardamom, leading to a juicy heart of cedar, sandalwood, and finally other ancient and precious woods enabling us to travel full circle back to our nose.
“Taste is the enemy of Art”.
