Having anything to do with this whisky can only derive from the fact that one is among the 234 - yes I repeat - the 234 lucky ones who will come into possession of such a rare treasure. We are forced to underline this point: and we are somewhat happy to do so. We are before one of those very few cases where even the richest tycoon in the world wishing to own one but not having had the foresight to arrange to do so might remain without.

In the meantime though try to imagine a Lady in evening dress. This is a midsummer night in some unknown place, and you are not even sure how you got here. You feel it immediately: you are standing in the most elegant of mysteries, you are traversing that fleeting moment that you will never forget. And it is this Lady who engenders desire in us, but especially the subtle fear that too beautiful a thing may provoke us, especially if we have pursued such a goal for too long.

As happens for those engaged in the ascetic search for enlightenment throughout a lifetime; just like Dante facing Paradise; Christopher Columbus looking onto a new world…everything seems so different, so big, so perfect.

Simply devastating to the nose. Being a whisky is simply not enough. There are also ancient fragrances linked to those attics that are never opened, and slowly old chests full of secrets reveal indications of ripe fruit, of ship’s holds full of delights which from Bosphorus will sail bound for Venice

In the mouth we have honey and gold, in a rare balance. Zero acidity, a multi-faceted aspect, a saline touch, so much sweetness and bitterness simultaneously. What the nose intuited is now transformed into a solid and well defined reality. Welcome to something which is bigger, perhaps bigger than ourselves!

…We few, we happy few, we band of brothers…

William Shakespeare, Enrico V, Atto IV Scena iii(3) 18–67.
