Myristicae come from the other side of the oceans, from the Moluku islands to be precise. But here in Grenada, the door to the most tropical part of the Caribbean, they seem to have found a home. The inland hills less subject to Atalantic winds see them thrive - the trees displaying slightly obscene but generous looking fruits which gift us the scents of mace and nutmeg, the most elegant of spice fragrances. This Grenada with deep Hispanic roots might flaunt its inclination for the refined from its very first steps, but the exquisite ageing process inflicted on it - so to speak - exhorts it to reveal also an attitude for harmony and the most composed elegance. White chocolate and balsamic suggestions which only expert years of Scottish education can confer.
